Family Faith
A strong wind had destroyed the metal roof on Mauricio and Tule’s home, leaving their family without adequate protection. For years, Mauricio would not allow his family to attend church because he did not trust Christians, and so when a local pastor approached his family and volunteered to help build a new cement roof on their home as a servant evangelism project through HOPE Coffee, Maurico was a bit surprised.
However, as the church members talked with the family, they shared that Jesus was the reason why they wanted to help. Soon all of his kids trusted in Jesus! After some hesitation, Mauricio accepted the church’s help, and it wasn’t long before both his and his wife’s hearts began to soften. As the local church members worked alongside his family to complete the roofing project, both he and his wife trusted in Jesus as well!
Mauricio has asked for prayer for his neighbors that they would soon see Christ’s love through his family’s newfound faith and trust in Jesus.

Martina Receives Shelter & Eternal Life
Two churches join together to show the love of Christ
In June 2017 HOPE Coffee partnered with two churches in Puebla, Mexico, to construct a home for Martina, the mother of two teen boys. She did not have a permanent place to live and her existing living conditions were very poor. She also did not have faith in Jesus.
Pastor Juan Rodriguez of the Obreros del Rey church had heard of Martina’s situation and was moved by the Spirit to help her and her two boys. Pastor Juan engaged members of his church, as well as one other church in the community, to rally together to show the love of Christ by building this family a house.
As work began on Martina’s house, many who had dedicated their time and talents to the project were impacted. Over the summer the house began to take shape. Each week Martina and her boys witnessed the love shown to them through these two churches, and they began to realize the source of their love. Attending one of the church services in early September, Martina and her boys put their faith in Christ!
Pastor Juan saw a need for shelter, and love filled his heart to share with a single mother and her two boys. HOPE Coffee provided the resources to build the shelter. And as a result, two churches were united in their efforts, many of those involved increased their faith, and Martina and her teen boys received a new home and eternal life.

Rejoicing in the Harvest Season
Manuel and Maria Trust in Jesus!
1 Corinthians 3:6 ” I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused it to grow.”
Pastor Joaquin Guerrero learned about the ministry of HOPE Coffee on June 29th at a pastor’s meeting where Abelardo was sharing about meeting needs for unsaved people in the community as a way to share the gospel. Immediately Pastor Joaquin began working with his church to find a family in their community whom they could serve in this way.
In mid-August, Pastor Joaquin met Manuel and Maria and learned of their need of a roof and electricity for their home. The seed of the gospel was planted and watered as the church members shared the gospel with Manuel and Maria and their three little kids—Evelyn, Aime and Irving. In early October, the church started the process of planning and buying materials in preparation for a November launch date for this project. On October 15, 2017, both Manuel and Maria trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior! We are so thankful for partnerships like this where HOPE Coffee can encourage and provide ways for the local church to meet basic needs and share the gospel. The gospel was planted and watered and God gave the increase! Praise God for His Harvest!

Elizabeth Just Trusted in Jesus!
A simple roof leads to her eternal shelter
Meet Rene and Elizabeth. Rene works at a building supply store and often drinks too much. When he drinks, he becomes very angry with his wife Elizabeth and their two teenage daughters. Elizabeth was ready to leave him earlier this year with plans to provide for her family through her sewing job in a local factory.
In June, Pastor Ramon Cancino and his church decided to engage with HOPE Coffee and share the gospel with someone in their community of Puebla Mexico. The members of the church were introduced to Rene and Elizabeth. Rene didn’t want anything to do with evangelical Christians. However, Elizabeth was willing to listen and mentioned their need of a roof. Pastor Ramon and his church began working in early August to build up the walls and put a new roof on their home. This was slow work that required several weekends of working alongside the family. Each weekend Rene, Elizabeth and their two girls heard more about the gospel message as they worked, and this family saw the love of Jesus Christ demonstrated.
On Tuesday, August 22nd, as the work was continuing, Elizabeth chose to place her faith and trust in Jesus Christ! She asks for prayer for her husband Rene that he too would trust in the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:6-9 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.
Thank you for being co-workers with us in God’s service!

Water for Francisca
El Sembrador Church – Sharing the Living Water
Francisca and her grandsons used to carry water into their bathroom to be able to flush the toilet. Their water system had broken, and they were not able to repair it. When Pastor Carlos from El Sembrador Church learned of their need, his church partnered with HOPE Coffee to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with their family while providing a water system and a better drain for their bathroom.
During this last month of July 2017, Abelardo and many members of the church worked each weekend to install a water system for this family and complete a roof for the bathroom. It was completed on August 07, 2017! The church members are rejoicing because they not only met a physical need for this family, but they were able to share the gospel several times with Francisca and her grandsons. Pray for Francisca, Toño, Luís, Brandon and Benjamin to believe in Jesus Christ. They have built friendships with several of the teens from El Sembrador and are interested in attending church to hear more about Jesus.
John 7:37-39
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Thank you for drinking HOPE Coffee and helping us share the gospel!

New Believer in Mexico
Jose Luis found Hope in Jesus
Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Twelve years ago, Jose Luis was Mayor of San Nicolás Buenos Aires, Puebla Mexico, where he had the opportunity to help many people who were in need. But there came a dark period in his life when he became an alcoholic. This ultimately resulted in the separation of his wife and children and the loss of respect from his friends. A few years ago, he met a woman named Araceli, formed a new family, and had two beautiful children. However, he was still disillusioned, with no work, no money to eat and no food to feed his family, and he had also developed diabetes. In May 2017, out of his loneliness, Jose Luis desperately pleaded with God, and asked for someone to visit him.
It was then that the Holy Spirit moved in the heart of Pastor Juan Santiesteban and his local church. When they knocked on Jose Luis’ door, he broke into tears because God had heard his cry for help. He had never read the Bible, and had thought that “religion” was hypocrisy and never took it seriously. Until now.
Pastor Juan and his church wanted to share the message of Jesus Christ with him and his family as well as meet a physical need for them. Jose Luis and his wife asked if a small wall could be built so they could open up a small store to sell things to their neighbors to help pay for the medical expenses. Pastor Juan and the church were thrilled to partner with HOPE Coffee to share how they could have eternal life by believing in Jesus Christ.
However, just as the plans were starting to come together to start this project, Jose Luis’ extended family heard that this project was going to be done by evangelical Christians. “No evangelical Christian will ever do work on my house” was the response of Jose Luis’ mother, who owned the house. There was nothing Jose Luis could do. The project was stopped. The work was over.
Although the physical work was over, the church continued to pray for Jose Luis and his family. As they prayed and talked with him week after week and studied the Bible with him, Jose Luis began a new journey. For the first time in his life, he felt there was hope and realized that this hope is only found in Jesus Christ. Jose Luis put his trust in Jesus! Where there had been despair, there was now hope. Where there had been opposition from family, there was now freedom found in Jesus. Where there had been obedience by the church to step out into their community and do something different, they found an open heart to listen to the gospel. There was no project completed; yet a building was built – “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16
Thank you for drinking HOPE Coffee and praying for those who need Jesus!
