Iced and Frozen Drinks
When one thinks about owning and running a coffee shop, the initial thought process is focused on the espresso machine, lattes and latte art. Soon thereafter, the thought of an iced latte or blended / frozen latte will enter your mind. These very profitable items will most likely make up 20%-30% of your sales.
Iced lattes are simple to create and easy to implement with good procedures. Yes, you will need ice, either from an ice machine or bags of ice. The key step is to “stir” or “whisk” the syrups with the espresso so that it is well mixed before pouring it into the iced milk and creating that fun mixture of espresso and milk.
Blended or Frozen Lattes require the ice, milk, espresso and syrups plus an emulsifier that will bond the milk to the ice and create the creamy texture of a frozen latte. When all of those ingredients are added to a high powered commercial blender, the result is very satisfying and visually appealing when you top it with whip and drizzle.
