Coffee and Jesus: Resources for Study or Sermons
At HOPE Coffee, we love Jesus and we love coffee. When we see those two blend together we naturally get a little excited! When we recently found sermons and study materials teaching scripture with examples and insight relating to coffee we were thrilled! We thought you might enjoy them, as well.
- Pastor Matt Russel of Lighthouse 805 in Ventura, California just wrapped up a sermon series titled “Brew.” In this series, Matt compares the life of a coffee bean to the life of a Christian. From harvest to brew, the life of the coffee bean is used an example of our life of service as the body of Christ. We think you’ll enjoy listening to this fun series! (You’ll find the series by scrolling down through the recent podcasts.)
- We particularly enjoy this piece written by Scott Ball titled Say No to Bad Coffee – A Theology of Hospitality. Scott makes his case for serving quality coffee to your guests every week, and we couldn’t agree more!
- If you’re in the mood for some in-depth satirical theology, give Michael J. Svigel’s piece, Coffee As A Means of Grace: Theological Humor a read. Although we recommend diving in to this one after your first cup!
Do you have a unique sermon or written piece celebrating coffee and Jesus? We’d love to see it! Email us at servebetter@hopecoffee.com and we may add it to this list!
