Education in Guatemala
Education in Guatemala
Very few children in Guatemala can fathom pursuing dreams to become a doctor, a teacher, or a lawyer. 1st – 6th grades are free for children in Guatemala, yet insufficient for most careers. Only wealthy families in Guatemala have access to preschool or high school courses, which are vital for pursuing most careers.
The Leivas family decided to change this! Their school, LanVwa, located in Joconal, Guatemala provides these missing courses for the children of coffee farmers. These children traditionally follow in their parents’ footsteps without considering other options. Now students are receiving the proper education to help them pursue careers of their choice.
Years ago, students new to LanVwa laughed at the thought of becoming a nurse. They told their teachers they could only become farmers. By the end of the program, these students announced that they wanted to become mechanics, doctors, teachers, and lawyers! Two LanVwa graduates even became teachers at LanVwa this year!
Because you choose HOPE Coffee, these children have a choice for their future. Most importantly, these students hear the gospel of Jesus Christ! You can read more about LanVwa here.
Join us in prayer for these students and teachers as they learn about Jesus and pursue their dreams!

Recently, Pastor Brigido took a group of volunteers to the small village of Xilitla, Mexico. He was teaching them how to share the gospel while showing cultural respect and Christ-like hospitality. The group was surprised at the warm reception they received, particularly from the unbelievers in the community.
Please pray for these three new believers to be open to discipleship from this local church so they can continue to learn more about Jesus. Pray also for these volunteers as they grow in their faith and ability to share the gospel.

Pastor Heber’s faithfulness brought about more joy than he could have imagined. Heber recently planted a church in Veracruz, Mexico with his wife. In order to reach out to his community, he chose to donate food baskets to 7 local families living in poverty. After pastor Heber received funds from HOPE Coffee for these food baskets, Heber purchased food the very next day and was
In every one of these visits, Heber told the food basket recipients that many brothers and sisters in Christ are praying for them. This brought immense comfort to the families.
