Clean Water for 38 Families
Clean Water for 38 Families
Chiapas, Mexico—For the 38 families in a remote village near the Guatemalan border, clean water is a distant dream. The villagers of Nueva Tierra y Libertad endure a half hour trek down the mountainside where they gather water from a salty river. Not only is this time-consuming and exhausting, but it also leaves the villagers open to various diseases.
But that’s all about to change. HOPE Coffee is partnering with Florentino, a local Christian leader who regularly ministers in Nueva Tierra y Libertad, to provide each family with a clean water system of their own. Along with access to clean water, Florentino will share about the love of Christ. Pray with us that God would use Florentino and that many would respond to the gospel message.
The rich, flavorful coffee you enjoy each morning has played a vital role in making this project possible. It’s your support that has fueled this mission, enabling Florentino to bring clean water, hope and the gospel message to Nueva Tierra y Libertad.

Prayer Request from our President
Dear HOPE Partners,
I have a specific prayer request to share with you for a family in Honduras. Cristina and her family live in deep poverty in the village of Pena Blanca Colinas, Honduras. Pastor Juan Carlos met Cristina and wanted to build her family a proper house instead of their current mud and stick make-shift house. This project started in January, but it stalled out this spring when the family couldn’t find a temporary place to live while a new house was constructed. The church was praying for a solution, and in May an unexpected fire took place and destroyed their mud stick house. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Unfortunately, some of the materials for the new house were also destroyed.
One of the results of this fire was that Pastor Carlos (the national leader who helps HOPE Coffee find these projects) was interviewed by the village leader. This leader named Yuler was amazed at the good work and intentions that the Christians had to help Cristina and her family. He was moved to do everything in his power to also help Cristina.
While this project is not finished, we are praying for Cristina and her family to trust in Jesus as her house is built. We are also praying that Yuler and the other village leaders would hear the gospel and trust in Jesus.
This situation has also been a good reminder and encouragement to the local church there that Matthew 5:16 is indeed true when we live out our Christian faith by helping others.
“In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.”
Together we serve better,
Brian Masters

Pray For Malawi
Pray for Malawi
In Malawi, a destructive cyclone recently killed 1,400 people and displaced almost 500,000. Many villages are still unreachable and thousands of people are living in displacement camps even now.
The Passion Center in Malawi stepped up in this crisis to serve and share the love of Jesus. They have been providing hygiene supplies, food, clothing and even shelter to families who have been left with almost nothing.
In the gallery below, read about three families that the Passion Center continues to serve and provide for after this devastating disaster.
The Passion Center in Malawi is one of the nine clinics you support when you drink HOPE Coffee and Compassion Tea.

Supporting Education in Mexico
Supporting Education in Mexico
Las Cascadas, Las Chicharras, Mexico—Recently, we introduced you to E-Cafe, our Direct Trade coffee farming coop in Chiapas, Mexico, and the source of our delicious Mexican Light Roast Coffee. In addition to incredible missions work, community development projects and microfinancing, E-Cafe also supports the education of underprivileged children throughout its region.
In 2005 they started Icthus World, a tuition-free boarding school for underprivileged children from families who work in coffee farming. In 2014 they expanded to open a grade school, as well. Over 90% of their students graduate and continue on to college. Comparatively, public schools in Mexico have a graduation rate of less than 45%.
In 2017 E-Cafe noticed another group of families who needed additional education support. Two of their farms, Finca Las Chicharras and Finca Las Cascadas employ seasonal farm workers who travel with their entire family from parts of Mexico and even Guatemala to work on the farms. Because they travel as a family, children often miss months of school during the coffee picking season. In order to serve these families, E-Cafe built a school on each of those farms so that students can continue their education in a safe environment while their parents are working. They even have childcare for the youngest children!
Your purchase of HOPE Coffee helps support these schools who serve the very families who help produce our Mexican Light Roast. Thank you for helping to make an enormous difference in the lives of these families!

Happening Now in Mexico
Happening Now in Mexico
El Cañon Xilitla, Mexico—Eduardo and Zayda were skeptical when Pastor Brigido told them that his church wanted to build them a shelter. Desperate for a safe home, they decided to accept the pastor’s offer.
Eduardo worked alongside the pastor and volunteers to start building the foundation of the house while Zayda helped some of the church members cook meals for the volunteers. The house was underway, but something else was also being built—trust between the Christians and the unbelieving couple.
After about six weeks of conversations while working alongside the volunteers from the church, Zayda decided to attend a Sunday service. Though Zayda has not decided to follow Jesus yet, her interest and questions about the gospel message increases by the day and she continues to seek answers. Eduardo is open to relationships with the pastor and church members, but he isn’t yet interested in the gospel with the same passion as his wife.
As Pastor Brigido and his church put the finishing touches on this project, please pray alongside us that Eduardo and Zayda would also receive the gift of salvation.
With each sip of your HOPE Coffee, you are coming alongside pastors like Brigido to reach their communities with the gospel message.
